Open House Day in Paradies
June 11, 2023
In bright Sunday weather, the Klostergut Paradies and the Iron Library opened their doors to over 400 enthusiastic visitors on June 11, 2023. The event attracted young and old to Paradies: Families, retirees, GF employees and Sunday strollers took the opportunity for an eventful day within the monastery walls and along the riverbank of the Rhine.
Not only was the sun shining, but the children's eyes also sparkled when the coin they had minted themselves was in their hands – or the reward for the colorful drawing. Parents, meanwhile, delved into the newly opened exhibition "Travel Reports of a Pioneer" on the travel journals of Johann Conrad Fischer, which can still be viewed all summer long in the Iron Library and the Klostergut. The highlight for many visitors was the steamboat tour on the Rhine after trying out Johann Conrad Fischer's original fire engine from 1817. And the Eligius blacksmith's guild was also actively engaged. In between, the guests enjoyed the monastery park and the food stands, which offered refreshments for every taste.
The joy was great on all sides, so that the question came: "And what are you planning next year – we will surely come again!" The Iron Library and Klostergut teams have plenty of ideas and energy for the future. But first, we are eagerly awaiting the adventures and reports from the anniversary trip "In the footsteps of Johann Conrad Fischer" - from June 12 to 22 live on Twitter, Instagram and Youtube!
